AN UNEMPLOYED Kendal man has been ordered to pay a total of £330 after swearing at police and public in a Bowness street.
Craig Alan Shepherd, of School Knott Drive, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly in a public place when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates’ Court.
Pam Ward, prosecuting, said police were called to Bowness at around 5pm on July 8 after a report of a man requiring restraint outside Churchills bar, on Robinson Place.
Officers found the 30-year-old on the floor on his front, having been escorted out of the bar after refusing to leave.
The court heard that when he left the premises he banged violently on the windows ‘as if he was trying to break them’.
Shepherd had to be rolled onto his side in order to speak and swore at police and members of the public around him, said Ms Ward.
He also had to be forcibly restrained when in custody, she added.
Representing himself, the defendant spoke only to inform magistrates he was out of work.
Shepherd was fined £75 and ordered to pay £85 prosecution costs, a £150 criminal court charge and a £20 victim surcharge.
