LANCASTER City's horrible home season ended on a low note as Blyth Spartans stole a 2-0 win despite another brave, battling display.

Jimmy Love and Lee Sparks went close early on before Robbie Dale had a header ruled out for offside. Then Leon Gierke fired just wide and the Dolly Blues appeared set to take something from the game - until a hammer blow hit them when Chris McCabe put the Northumbrians ahead against the run of play.

Gierke missed another half chance and was again profligate after the break when he shot over. And City were made to pay nine minutes from time when McCabe headed in.

* City suffered another heavy defeat on Monday night when Hinckley United strolled to a 5-0 win to book their place in the play-offs.

Andy Brown hit a hat-trick and Leon Jackson and Owen Story scored the goals to sink City, who face Workington on Saturday.
