A PENSIONER has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being thrown from a vehicle in the Lake District.
The Great North Air Ambulance was called out at 12pm today (July 31) after a report of two people being thrown from a vehicle on the Kirkstone Pass, near Troutbeck.
On arrival the aircrew doctor and paramedic team assessed and treated the two casualties.
The woman, in her 70s, suffered chest, leg and back injuries.
MORE TOP STORIES: She was flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, where her condition on arrival was said to be stable.
The other casualty was transported to Royal Lancaster Infirmary by road ambulance.
