A MAN and a woman have suffered head injuries after falling 300ft at Helvellyn yesterday (Wednesday).
Members of Patterdale and Penrith mountain rescue teams rescued the couple, who were from Nottingham, after they fell below the Gough memorial.
Team members reached and stabilised the casualties, who had called for help on their mobile phones, before an RAF helicopter from Anglesey airlifted them to Furness General Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
