A 252-TONNE abnormal load is to be transported from Barrow-in-Furness to Lockerbie at the weekend, the Highways Agency has warned.
The turbine will take a three-day journey leaving Barrow Docks at 8pm on Saturday (April 28) exiting from Bridge Road and following the A590 along Walney Road and Park Road.
It will then travel along the contraflow north of Ulverston and follow the A590 to Junction 36 of the M6, where it is expected to arrive at 2am on Sunday.
The second part of the journey will commence at 8pm on Sunday when the turbine will travel north on the M6 arriving at J44 (Southwaite Services) at 2am on Monday. At 8pm the load will then travel along the A74 to the New Lockerbie Biomass Power Station.
The load will be fully escorted by police throughout the journey.
