For around 20 years now I have been coming to Kirkby Lonsdale in a caravan and now with a motorhome. I always stay within the car park just north of Devil’s Bridge.
In 20 years I have never caused any problems with people visiting, nor the police. The council lads have also given me bin bags to leave on the corner. I do a lot of photography. I have never caused any trouble. I just visit, have a walk around the shops with my grandson and take photographs.
I was there for the Bank Holiday weekend minding my own business and keeping my grandson occupied. I built a computer into the motorhome and was going to use it Sunday morning. I went out to start the generator which, I might add, was brand new, to find that somebody had filled the tank with soil chippings and sugar mixed together.
I have been coming for 20years to the same spot. What did I do to deserve being treated like that? I bring my nine-year-old grandson up because two years ago his mother died and I became his guardian.
I have also been on active service twice to defend this country. What have I done that is so wrong that somebody would do that to a brand new property without voicing their opinion first?
If I had caused any damage there I could understand but I haven’t and I leave the place as I find it, if not a little cleaner.
I will make no bones about it - someone local has done this maliciously. I don’t have a lot of money so you can understand why I feel so devastated.
Every thing I own I have had to work for and I don’t understand why someone would do this when I haven’t harmed anyone.
