LAKE District National Park Authority planners have given the go ahead for the change of use of The Old Boatyard, in Witherslack, into a village shop and post office.
The application, submitted by Witherslack Community Shop Ltd, to use the vacant former boat storage building for retail use with ancillary community uses followed the closure of the shop/post office last year.
No new buildings or extensions were proposed but the external appearance of the existing industrial unit would be modified.
Internally, space will be made available for a community shop, a post office and a social area equipped with a computer.
