NEMSA Lamb Sale
Friday September 11
Annual prize show and sale of North of England Mule Gimmer Lambs when a catalogued entry of 11,250 were on offer.
The pre sale show which saw one of the best show of 20 pens of lambs seen for some time, with the judging been carries out by Mr D Morris, Aylesbury, Mr T Binns, Clitheroe and our referee was Mr P Fox, Clitheroe.
The overall championship was awarded to an outstanding pen of 10 lambs from local regular consigners Messrs Brow Asby Hall, Great Asby which went on to top the sale at £600 selling to Messrs Jackson, High Bentham.
Taking the overall reserve championship was another great pen of lambs this time from another local consigner Messrs Hutchinson, Redgate, Kaber which went to sell for £550 also to Messrs Jackson.
Trade throughout the sale remained consistent with an overall sale average of £93.81 being achieved for 10,193 lambs sold, which was 701 more on the year.
The strongest and best quality lambs and the smaller running lambs were the best to sell on the day, with both these types being the least back on the year. Consigners left the ring happy with their trades, especially taking into account this year’s decrease prime and early breeding sheep returns.
The show was kindly sponsored by Westmorland Accountants, Farm Sense in conjunction with Eden Farm Supplies (Brough) Ltd, New Breed UK, Carr’s Billington Agriculture, Dugdale Nutrition, Shearwell Data, H & H Insurance Brokers and H & H Land & Property.
