SHINING star Michael Twiss is ready for a command performance on the biggest stage as he aims for the highest accolade of his glittering career on Sunday.

The best player outside the Football League wants to get back into the elite with Morecambe - and on Sunday will get his chance as the Shrimps battle with Exeter City in the Conference play-off final.

Former Manchester United starlet Twiss, who played in the league for both Sheffield United and Port Vale, is aware that Morecambe have won nothing yet ahead of the shoot-out in front of a huge Wembley crowd. But he says: "We have done ever so well and now we have to get over the line.

"It is a brilliant achievement and it the sort of moment that all players dream of - but we are not going to Wembley to get beaten and we have a job to do against a very good side. And that job is to get into the Football League."

For Twiss, the play-offs afford a real chance, especially as his season almost ended in February when he damaged medial ligaments in his left knee.

"There was a suggestion I could have been out for the season so the play-offs gave me a chance," adds the 29-year-old Salford-born star.

"We are all delighted to have reached Wembley but there is no way that we are getting carried away.

"It is a great day out for the fans and we want to reward them on Sunday."
