A MAN suffered serious injuries after a crash involving a lorry and a Mercedes car on the A590 in South Lakeland earlier today.
Major traffic disruption was caused following the collision, which occurred at between Brettargh Holt and Witherslack on the west-bound carriageway.
Police, fire and ambulance attended the scene and the 42-year-old Mercedes driver, from Endmoor, was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
A Cumbria Police spokeswoman said his injuries were 'serious but not life-threatening'.

Diversions were in place via Windermere but the west-bound carriageway of the A590 re-opened around 8.20am. Both carriageways are now reported to be clear.
The spokeswoman said: "This was a two-vehicle collision – a HGV and a Mercedes CDI which happened at around 6.45am this morning.
"The driver of the Mercedes – a 42-year-old man from Endmoor – has been taken to RLI with serious injuries. They are not believed to be life threatening.
"The driver of the lorry – a 33-year-old - is not believed to have suffered any injuries.
"The incident happened on the westbound carriageway which was closed from Brettargh Holt roundabout. Traffic is now flowing freely again."
