FOUR hundred people were assisted by the RNLI Flood Rescue Team in Cumbria over three days during the December floods, figures released this week reveal. RNLI volunteers travelled from across the north of England and North Wales to help in Kendal, Cockermouth and Carlisle.
The charity announced that in 2015 its lifeboats launched 954 times in the north of England, rescuing 903 people. Andrew Ashton, RNLI Divisional Operations Manager in the north of England, said: "It was dreadful to see the devastation caused by the floods, which at their worst can be very dangerous."
