LATER opening hours are on the cards for shoppers at Carnforth's Tesco supermarket.

The company already trades until 10pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and is seeking planning permission to do the same on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. At present, the doors close at 8pm. Sunday opening times - 10am to 4pm - would be unchanged.

Carnforth Town Council has no objection and there have been no letters from neighbours, according to a report.

The plans look set to be approved by Lancaster City Council's planning and highways regulatory committee next Monday (February 8).

Tesco is also seeking permanent permission to allow deliveries between 6.30am and 9.30pm Monday to Sunday, plus one delivery per week between midnight and 2am.

The company was given six months' temporary consent for this last year and there have been no complaints from neighbours about noise since, according to a report.

The plans are also recommended for approval.
