A MAN has died after being hit by a train near Penrith.
Officers were called to Plumpton at around 2.50pm on Sunday, February 7, and discovered that a 60-year-old man had been struck by a train.
The man, from the Carlisle area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a spokesperson for British Transport Police the death is not being treated as suspicious and the man's family have been informed.
