METHODISTS touched by the plight of flooded-out families on Kendal's Sandylands have raised £1,900 for relief efforts.

Nine churches from the Vale of Stour Methodist Circuit in the West Midlands held retiring collections, made donations from their funds and supported an afternoon tea held at Kingswinford Methodist Church.

One small church sent £500 immediately after Christmas to Sandylands Methodist Church's flood relief fund, and a further £1,400 has also been given.

After seeing media coverage of December's floods, churchgoers in the West Midlands said they were "delighted to feel that they were able to do something to assist the people of Sandylands, who have been so badly affected by the flooding".
