A PROJECT to help prevent sewers spilling into the River Keer, near Warton and Silverdale, has been announced.
Managers from United Utilities told Silverdale Parish Council that new pipework and a storm water tank would be installed at Warton Road, Millhead, later this year. The project is designed to help the sewerage system handle extreme weather and to help improve the quality of bathing water in Morecambe Bay.
A 150-metre stretch of Warton Road will be closed for 10 to 12 weeks from August 30, councillors heard. Businesses will be open as usual during the traffic diversion.
