PRIME Minister Theresa May handed Angela Merkel a copy of two books with South Lakeland connections to celebrate the German Chancellor’s 62nd birthday when two world leaders met in Berlin.
A new edition of Coast To Coast with Wainwright, a photographic book from 1973 on beauty spots between the Irish and North Sea, was one of two walking books that Mrs May handed to Mrs Merkel.

The other was a copy of Great Mountain Days in Snowdonia, which has a guide to walks in the National Park, which is published by Milnthorpe-based Cicerone.
