THE pitter-patter of paws was heard at a South Lakes primary school as the latest police recruit popped in.
PC Barrie Cox, from Cumbria Police, visited Staveley Primary School with Labrador puppy Harley, who is being trained to be a forensic evidence and victim recovery dog.
PC Cox told pupils about his work as a dog handler and the jobs of his different dogs. He also has Oz, a Dutch Shepherd, and Lucky, a spaniel drugs dog.
Lucky showed the children her sniffer dog skills by finding an object hidden by one of the pupils.
