Best of British and, more importantly, best of Cumbria, is the phrase of the day at this year's Cartmel Show.

"It's a local show so you just want to do the best of South Lakes, the best of Cumbria," said show secretary Sarah Dickinson.

"It's not just the cattle and the sheep, it's everything. The home baking, the produce and the demonstrations that are happening here today."

Judging is well under way at the show and the crowds have been enjoying locally made food from the various homegrown traders as well as admiring the work of craft exhibitors.

South Lakes Lace Makers is one such group with a stand at the show - having attended Cartmel since the eighties. The group is keen to revive the craft and Cartmel helps it to do so.
