Your report describing improvements in access to Orrest Head for those with mobility problems (Gazette, March 10, 'Access work begins to open viewpoint') raises the related issue about the view once they get there.
A number of viewpoints are ruined by excessive tree growth. Over the last 20 years we have watched the tree canopy expand to the point where the lake is largely obscured from Biskey Howe.
Given that our local economy relies on the wonderful views, we need to examine this uncontrolled growth.
I love trees and have planted many over the years whenever I have moved into a new home but they must be appropriate in size and shape for the spaces they occupy. It is time for sensible action to be taken.
