A SOUTH Lakeland guide dog owner is keen to spread the news about the work guide dog charity does to help blind and partially-sighted people.

Ella Wadsworth, from Kendal, has become an official speaker for the charity.

She said: “I would love to share the difference that Katie has made to my life as well as the other fantastic work Guide Dogs does for people who are blind or partially sighted, like myself.

"Now I’ve completed my speaker training Katie and I can’t wait to get out into the local community and make some new friends for Guide Dogs!”

Ella is available to visit schools, community groups and local organisations to let them know about the increased mobility and independence her dog Katie has brought to her life.

Anna Lindsay, community fundraiser, said: “Congratulations to Ella on completing her speaker training. I’m delighted that she will be able to tell people the heart-warming story of the amazing partnership she has with Katie and of Guide Dogs mission to ensure that all people who are blind or partially sighted have the same freedom of movement as everyone else.
