NINE people were treated by paramedics following a traffic collision late on Saturday night.

The A65 was closed from around 11:30pm after the crash on the A65 at Gatebeck, south of Kendal.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said a car and a minibus were involved in the collision and crews had to release two casualties, one from the car (a woman) and one man from the minibus.

Police and ambulance were also at the scene. Nine casualties are believed to have been treated by ambulance personnel.

Road users were warned to avoid the area while emergency services dealt with the incident. 

The road reopened at approximately 8am.
