A PILOT was taken to hospital after a helicopter crash near Dent yesterday (April 29).
Police were alerted to the incident at 3.20pm by a member of the public, who reported that a gyroscope-type helicopter had crashed at the summit of Great Knoutberry.
Cave rescue were alerted and assisted in the search but were stood down when the air ambulance located the aircraft with the pilot and passenger. Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team also attended the incident.
The passenger of the the helicopter was uninjured but the pilot was airlifted to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary with what are believed to be minor injuries.
Cumbria Police have referred the incident to the air accidents investigation branch.
