A FRAGILE and rare white bluebell has been found in the grounds of a South Lakeland inn.

The ‘albino’ flower, which lacks the usual pigment that gives bluebells their traditional blue colour, was spotted by Tim Berry from English Lakes Hotels Resorts and Venues as he walked with his dog Lily in the grounds of The Wild Boar at Crook, near Windermere.

"I was out in the woods for my usual walk around the inn’s woodland and was telling my daughters about these incredibly rare white bluebells, estimated to be one in 10,000, and that in recent years some had been seen at The Wild Boar," said Mr Berry. "So off we went to the secret location and sure enough we found one."
