A NEW Savers store opened its doors in Kendal yesterday (July 19) with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Creating nine new jobs, including seven part-time jobs for local people, the Highgate shop has undergone six weeks of work.
Area manager, Dan Bond, said that he thought that having a Savers in Kendal would be a 'big benefit' to the town.

"Our mission statement is that we're clean, we're crisp and we're contemporary and we offer the best affordable prices on branded prices," he said.
"It's a great demographic, a very thriving busy high street and for us we saw a window for competitors to come in."
Home Bargains is also located on Highgate and Mr Bond said that the store would be their 'main competition'.
The store will specialise in health and beauty products as well as offering household and convenience items.
"I'm really excited and love my job role as area manager," he said, adding that he wanted to thank a fellow area manager Linda Gilhooley for her assistance in getting the store ready. "And it's a great opportunity for us to branch out into Kendal and offer a great service to the local community."
