A NEW joint promotional leaflet has been produced to encourage people to come and enjoy a swim in Eden’s outdoor rural pools.
The idea came from volunteers at the pools who felt that there would be merit in promoting themselves jointly rather than individually as had been the case in the past.
Eden District Council’s Leisure and Communities Team working with Action with Communities in Cumbria (ACT) have bought together with volunteers from rural outdoor pools at Shap, Askham, Greystoke, Hunsonby and Lazonby to network and share best practice.
The group has now met several times to discuss common issues ranging from pool plant training, volunteer recruitment and retention to marketing and promotion.
The leaflet has been funded by Eden District Council with images and content provided by the pools. Sally Hemsley, Eden District Council’s Communities Officer, who has co-ordinated production of the leaflet on behalf of the pools said: “The pools are a great asset for Eden and appeal to visitors as well as locals and are all open daily at the moment.”
