PUPILS at Crosby Ravensworth Primary School spent a day doing a sausage-making masterclass with Dave Morland, the head of butchery at Westmorland Family Butchers at Tebay Services.
The school is one of four in the local area taking part in a Schools Awards programme, which aims to give pupils a better understanding of growing, cooking and learning to love good food. It is also designed to make a positive ongoing contribution to the children's health and well-being.
Throughout the programme Westmorland Family Butchers will be supporting the schools by linking them with their local producer network and engaging them through informative food and farming related projects and activities.
Headteacher Duncan Priestley said: "We had a wonderful day with Dave. He's a natural in the classroom. The sausages were absolutely yummy. We had them the following day and although we have some fussy eaters, everyone was more than happy to gobble them up."
