THE access road to 16 new affordable homes to be built at Carnforth can be relocated, planners agreed.
Applicant Graham Wallbank already has planning consent to build the dwellings on scrubland at Back Lane, behind the town's cemetery.
He returned to Lancaster City Council to seek permission to move the access road six metres to the north, which would increase open space at the site by ten per cent and save another tree from felling.
One neighbour objected, saying they were concerned about surface water drainage and flooding which could make parts of the graveyard "unusable".
However, members of the planning and highways regulatory committee heard moving the road would not exacerbate flooding, and that the Environment Agency did not object.
They approved the change unanimously.
