CAMPAIGNERS in Coniston will get the chance to lobby government officials over housing needs when a delegation descends on the village next month.
In the wake of Princess Anne's visit to the Lakes in March, in her role as president of the Rural Housing Trust, the government is dispatching a party of housing ministers to see how effective communities can be in bringing about change.
South Lakeland district councillor Anne Hall, former shadow portfolio holder for housing, said the September 11 visit was "terribly exciting and positive" for the village.
"This could be the chance we need to lobby for government funding and to raise awareness of the seriousness of housing shortages in the area," she said.
