AN ULVERSTON chef is seeking consent to repaint the front of his Grade II-listed Georgian restaurant and gin parlour.
Craig Sherrington, who was last year awarded two AA Rosettes for Virginia House, hopes to give the Queen Street property an elegant new facade.
Beige walls and light brown window surrounds would be repainted teal green and charcoal grey.
"We think it will add real appeal to the property," Mr Sherrington has told South Lakeland District Council, "and not distract from its natural elegance."
The chef, who owns the seven-bedroom property with wife Louise, said the colours were chosen to reflect the period when Virginia House was built, in 1790.
