TWO guided "gunpowder trail" walks are planned from Crooklands, this Sunday (September 16).
The walks are part of the national Heritage Open Days festival and will set off from the Wakefield Wharf opposite the Crooklands Hotel.
The two-hour route will cross fields and a number of stiles to follow the line of the tramway that brought kegs of gunpowder down to the Lancaster Canal from the Gatebeck gunpowder works.
The walk leader will be Robin Yates, chairman of the Lancaster Canal Trust. There is no need to book but the walks will leave promptly at 10am and 2pm. Sturdy footwear is advised.
