I KNOW people you will have their own opinions about this, but I am asking drivers to consider turning off their vehicle engines when they are parked up, maybe outside a shop or in a car park.
Cars, especially diesel, give off a lot of harmful pollution and there is no need add to it.
Last week a United Utility van was parked for 25 minutes outside my house with the engine on while the owner was looking for a stop valve.
Just this morning I noticed a driver sitting in a van with the engine running while 'having a break'. Another driver was waiting for a passenger who was doing shopping in Booth's. I could go on.
In summer the reason I get is 'to keep the air conditioning on' and in winter it's 'the heater'. Either way, it's polluting, outside shops, school, my house, etc.
We all have to breathe this air so please, if you are a driver, give some consideration to turning the engine off.
