A LIFE-saving piece of equipment has been placed within a South Lakeland village's disused telephone box.
The Community Public Access Defibrillator (CPAD) has been installed inside the box in Endmoor, opposite the Millennium Clock on Woodside Road.
There are now two CPADS in Endmoor – the other being located outside the village hall. Another is planned for the Low Park area.
In the event of a medical collapse, access to a CPAD can be gained by dialling 999 and the dispatcher will give the caller a special code.
The CAPD has been made available through Preston Richard Parish Council in collaboration with Endmoor and District Community First Responders.
As a result of many donations from the community, the responders have also provided defibrillators in St Patrick’s C of E Primary School, Endmoor Bowling Club, The Club Inn and Summerlands Trading Estate. Defibrillators have also been bought for eight other locations within the responders’ operating area.
