THE head teacher and deputy head of Kendal's Heron Hill Primary School were invited to an evening gala at the Houses of Parliament to celebrate excellent leadership.
Peter Hicks and Ian Murphy were guests at the event to mark the launch of this year's The Parliamentary Review - a series of publications designed to highlight best practice in education, health and industry.
Head teacher Mr Hicks was invited to write a piece about Heron Hill School's achievements. Alongside academic results, he shared the pupils' enjoyment of growing fruit and vegetables, and harvesting honey from their own beehive.
He told the Gazette: "It is quite special that we were invited to contribute to this publication which is sent to tens of thousands of people across the country and a great honour to be invited to an evening at the Houses of Parliament; demonstrating that Heron Hill has been recognised as such a forward-thinking and great school."
