ENTERTAINERS, musicians and dancers drew large crowds to the Ingleton Autumn Lights Festival at the weekend.

The Dales village's alternative bonfire celebrations attracted more than 500 people on Saturday. Hannah Lambert, one of the many volunteers behind the event, said the atmosphere was "absolutely buzzing" and the weather was "fantastic", unlike 2017 when festival-goers were lashed by Storm Brian and torrential rain.

Among the many attractions in and around "the i centre" - Ingleton's former middle school - were dodgems from Taylor's Funfair; magic tricks by Tall Paul, festival committee member Paul Sunderland; LED light juggling by street entertainer Stanley Youngman, Esq; a country market; a slide show of old Ingleton photographs; and displays by Craven Judo Academy, Blue Moose Dance Company, Helen Howard School of Theatre Dance and Ingleton Theatre Group.

At the floodlit BMX track at Back Gate, British Cycling coach Jill Eccleston, of Settle-based Run Bike Fun, shared advice and expertise with cyclists.

St Mary's Parish Church ran a children's cafe, Seasons bakery supplied a hog roast, and Barrett Events served cask ales and gin at an outdoor bar.

Blues band Back From Beyond drew the night to a close.

"It was a fantastic night," said Hannah, a district nurse. "The weather made it much more enjoyable compared to the storm we endured last year."

She added: "It is a huge undertaking to get it organised and involves an enormous amount of voluntary effort and generous donations.

"We couldn't do it without that sort of support."
