RESULTS are in and names have been picked for Cumbria County Council's gritters.
A total of 3,310 votes were cast in the contest, which took place over five days via the council's Twitter Gritter account, @CumbriaGritters.
More than 200 suggestions were made and 20 names were shortlisted for the council's 38-strong fleet of gritters.
And among the names it would seem Usain Salt and David Ploughie will be keeping the streets of Cumbria safe this winter.
Along with Spready Mercury and Gritty Gritty Bang Bang surveying the roads too.
The other winners are Gritter Garbo; Gritty McVitie, Ready Spreadie GO , True Grit; Nicole Saltslinger, Whinlatter Scatter and Gritany Spears.
County Council would like to say a big thank you to everyone who suggested a name, and also to everyone who voted.
