A FANTASTIC fundraising effort by the Friends of Crosthwaite School saw the group raise a record £10,000 at their bi-annual 'Auction of Promises'.

The event was held at Kendal Rugby Club and was very well attended with more than 120 people bidding for the various lots, which were all donated by local residents and businesses.

And to celebrate that amazing figure, the school's pupils arranged themselves into a huge '£10K' figure on their playing field.

"Whilst we knew that FrOCS were a superb organisation, having raised tens of thousands of pounds for the school over the past few years, the amount raised in this one night is fantastic!," said Crosthwaite CE Primary School head teacher Matthew Jessop.

Auctioneer duties were performed superbly yet again by Alan Mason, with the lots ranging from luxury accommodation and private yacht charters to lambing and milking experiences at local farms.

In the past few years, FrOCS have paid for two school minibuses, sports equipment, computers and numerous trips and visitors, as well as a wealth of resources used by the pupils every day.

The recently raised funds will be used to provide further opportunities and resources including a modular stage for the school hall and new equipment for science lessons.
