GIRLGUIDES from Crosscrake and Rangers have gathered a supply of donations for the King's Food Bank in Kendal.
The girls went to visit the food bank to learn more about how everything is processed and also to give a helping hand.
On their visit they volunteered to pack the parcels and food boxes in time for the festive season.
They found out how all the food boxes were individually tailored to meet the needs of families and provide nutritional, non-perishable food items that provide three meals a day for three to four days.
Along with food donations the 1st Crosscrake Guides also brought toiletries and sanitary products to help ensure that the female food bank users' basic needs were met.
GirlGuide Leader in training, Lucky Allcock, aged 24, said it was a good experience to find out how a food bank actually worked in practice.
