A PRAYER vigil is to take place at a South Lakeland church to support the Brexit vote in Parliament next Tuesday.

People are being invited to "pop in" to Stricklandgate Methodist Church on Windermere Road, Kendal, to reflect and pray for the country's politicians, their leaders and the nation in the build up to the crucial vote.

Pastor Marc Jackson said: "We will seek to pray for all who vote, whatever their political views, and ask for them wisdom and open hearts to seek what is truly best for our nation."

Among materials to be provided are printed prayers to help and guide reflection along with candles and paper doves on which people can write personal prayers to be placed on the ‘prayer tree.’

The event will not have any speaker nor any discussion but will be a time of quiet with occasional recorded music. Free refreshments will be available throughout the vigil between 12noon and 6pm.
