A WOMAN has died following a fatal road traffic collision on the M6.
Police said at approximately 5.10am on Sunday, January 13 a Nissan Almera left the carriage way, on the M6 southbound, one mile south of Junction 36 and collided with a tree.
The driver of the vehicle was a 50-year old female from West Cumbria, who died following the collision.
The carriageway was fully closed for three hours while a forensic investigation was carried out.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who were travelling south along the M6 through Cumbria between 4.30am and 5.10am who may have see a Nissan Almera or have dashcam footage to call on 101, quoting log number 38.
