A KENDAL author who has completed nineteen novels, five poetry books and a book of fifty short stories since 2012 is keen to celebrate her 'first million words.'

Julia Patten is now offering the chance to entertain locals with her poems, short stories and book chapters0-free of charge

"I would be delighted to share my writing with others in and around Kendal as a way of celebrating this exciting milestone," she said.

"I already entertain regularly at the Mortal Man hotel in Troutbeck and at organised spoken word evenings, but would be happy to go further and recite my work at other local establishments, groups or gatherings where an interlude of spoken word would be appreciated.'

When she joined a Kendal writing group Julia was challenged to produce a novel. She said she rose to the occasion and since then has not stopped writing.

"While I am searching for a literary agent and publisher, I create book covers to match my book contents and transform my words into paperback format," she said "my poems are always accessible, sometimes quirky and usually tell a story or carry a message. Topics include nature, romance, family, politics, tragedy and more."

Julia added that her short stories were 'unexpected', sometimes 'creepy' with a twist at the end.
