FESTIVAL-GOERS in Ulverston have made it into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Last year the organisers of Another Fine Fest attempted to break a number of world records, including the largest gathering of people wearing conical party hats.

It has just been confirmed visitors at the event successfully set a new record of 875 participants.

Dave Crossley, director of Another Fine Fest hailed the record breaking achievement.

He said: “We’re really happy with the news, we have a great team who help put the events together.

“The aim of the record breaking events and the festival as a whole is to spread happiness and bring the community together.

“It gives local, national and international artists and musicians a chance to play in front of some pretty big crowds and of course celebrate our most important cultural icon Stan Laurel as well as make some money for local charity.

“We actually attempted to break three records this year, we attempted the largest gathering of people wearing conical party hats, the largest game of musical statues and the largest gathering of people wearing odd socks.

“I think we would have broken all three had it not been for the weather but it’s still a great achievement and showed great spirit and dedication to the cause.

“This year we are not aiming to break any records.

“We need to give our record breaking team Jennie Dennett, Rachael Weaver and Ceri Hutton a break from the sheer amount of paperwork and logistics involved in organising such a large event.

“It is a massive challenge and can be a little stressful at times but definitely well worth it.

“This year we will creating a giant human rollercoaster, so look out for our 2019 event on June 15 and 16.

“It will include live music, DJs, street theatre, magic, stand up comedy, poetry, spoken word, dance displays, live art displays.

“People of all ages are welcome.

“People will be able to sign-up soon for the workshops to make their coaster costume in May ahead of the festival.
