A LAKE District holiday with a difference is being offered in Windermere – and you bring your own chair.
The short break arranged by the boutique guest house on 1 Park Road includes upholstery instruction to recover a chair, seat, Ottoman-style box, or even a headboard for a bed.
The classes will be run by Dianne Evans-Taylor who has been teaching for 15 years as well as running her own upholstery business, covering all aspects of furniture restoration.
The two-day course is designed both for beginners and those with more experience.
“Classes are small so students get personal time with the tutor but can work and learn at their own speed,” explained Mary Burton who runs the guest house with husband Philip, and has been taking upholstery classes herself.
The classes will include the basic skills and techniques used to upholster a piece of furniture; simple repairs; handling fabrics and materials correctly; and handling tools correctly.
The course runs from Sunday April 7 and includes two nights bed and breakfast, and supper on the first night. Full details: https://1parkroad.co.uk/2-day-upholstery-course/
