On Thursday, February 14, my elderly mother stumbled on a speed calming hump as she was crossing Sandylands Road at Kendal. She sustained a nasty fall but is making a steady recovery after dislocating her shoulder.
Our grateful thanks go to the motorists who stopped to assist her, and particularly to the lady and gentleman who took her home when she refused an ambulance call!
My mum recalls saying thank you to them at the time, but in the shock of the incident didn't ask their names.
Our experience of the hospital, ambulance and paramedic services on that day was equally heartening and demonstrates that, not only does our very stretched NHS work well, but kindness and compassion still abound.
