COUNCILLORS have voted unanimously to adopt a clear and strong stance against anti-Semitism.
South Lakeland District Council has agreed to adopt the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of anti-Semitism following consultation with the Jewish Leadership Council.
SLDC’s leader, Cllr Giles Archibald, who tabled a motion before full council, said: “I thought we had left this kind of racism behind a long time ago and I have been quite horrified and saddened by the evidence that anti-Semitism still exists."
