Kendal Town 3

Market Drayton 2

Kendal Town picked up their first home win since August after a dramatic 3-2 victory against Market Drayton Town.

Kendal, who remained second from bottom and four points adrift of safety despite the win, opened the scoring on 26 minutes when former Vickerstown striker Danny Keenan scored from close range.

However in an eventful first half the visitors equalised after Jordan Davies went clean through on goal before placing the ball into the net.

James Jennings edged the visitors in front 35 seconds into the second half, however Kendal battled back when Aaron Helliwell converted a penalty kick, before Ryan Moore’s header with 10 minutes to go edged Kendal Town to victory.

Market Drayton Town had two goals ruled out for offside within the first 20 minutes, after both Davies and Glyn Doney were denied by the assistant referee.

Kendal struggled to gain any ascendancy, while the visitors dominated and created opportunities through Davies and James Jennings who were both denied by Jao Mendez.

Kendal opened the scoring after 26 minutes when Keenan prodded the ball home from close range as he capitalised on a mistake by Ashley Rawlins who spilled a deep free kick from Helliwell.

There was further drama for the visitors after Rawlins had to be substituted, and with no substitute goalkeeper on the bench, an outfield player had to go in goal.

Both teams pushed for the winner as the rain continued to fall, however it were Kendal who edged in front with just 10 minutes left on the clock, after a deep delivery into the box was headed into the net by Moore.
