NEW Zealand all rounder Bevan Small has been snapped us as Netherfield Cricket Club professional for the 2019 season.

The 27-year-old, who plays for Central Districts in his home country, was in the New Zealand squad for the Under 19 World Cup in 2010.

He already has experience in English conditions, having played for Liverpool Competition outfit Orrell Red Triangle and Wiltshire outfit Burbage and Easton Royals.

And Netherfield, who begin their Northern Premier League campaign at home to Longridge on April 20, have also announced the capture of Joel Blain as the club’s new overseas amateur.

Blain, who plays for Geelong in his native Australia and is a highly rated leg spinner and attacking batsman, arrives from Ribblesdale League side Whalley, where he claimed 66 wickets and scored 310 runs last term.

Ben Barrow will remain as club captain with Steve Wilson staying on as third team skipper while Martin Boyd and Mick Notley continue to captain the fourths. However the club are still looking too appoint a second team captain after Scott Clement decided to relinquish the role for the new season, though he will continue as a player.
