SELLING home-baked cakes to raise money for charity are Katie McManus (left) and Asia Connor, who work at Windermere Information and the Mountain Goat tour company on Victoria Street, Windermere.

Colleagues picked up their mixing bowls and wooden spoons to take part in the Brain Tumour Charity's Big Bandana Bake to help pay for research into fighting the disease.

Staff member Kate Barton said she was inspired to organise the bake-off because she has lost family and friends to the illness.

She said all the staff at the information centre and Mountain Goat would be taking part, including drivers and guides, in a bid to raise £500 for the charity by selling delicious cupcakes, traybakes and sandwich cakes.

The Brain Tumour Charity says 31 people are diagnosed with brain tumours every day in the UK, yet survival rates have barely improved in the past 40 years.
