I HAVE just seen that Cumbria County Council has given the go-ahead for a coal mine near Whitehaven.
I am dumbfounded! Which planet does the council think it is on?
Unfortunately it shares mine and wants to wreck it for my children and grandchildren. Has it not heard of climate change, the Paris agreement, the need to keep all fossil fuels in the ground?
How can it sanction further greenhouse gas emissions, when they are known to cause sea level rise, catastrophic storms, droughts and crop failure. Just look at the damage and loss of human life in Africa this week!
Does the council really want to initiate action which directly kills people?
Think again!
