What the caption for today's front page cartoon should have been

Due to a technical error, part of the caption for the Shelbourn cartoon on the front page of today's The Westmorland Gazette is missing.

The cartoon refers to a story on page seven of today's edition, about a postcard and letters written by a young girl while at school finally reaching their Lake District destinations nearly four decades later.

You can see the cartoon above. The full caption should have read:

“It’s from 40 years ago: ‘Thank goodness the EEC referendum is over, at least we’ll never have to do another one of those!’ "
