The best Easter weather for years brought record crowds to the Lake District. On Good Friday, the Langdale Valley was the warmest place in Britain, with 61 degrees in the shade. But there were many accidents on the roads and mountains.
25 YEARS AGO - 1994
No agreement has been reached between the parties for and against a 10mph speed limit on Windermere. Last minute proposals from objectors to manage the lake with strict controls have fallen at the first hurdle, and all involved are now preparing for the inquiry.
